ALCATRAZ - DOM STUDENCKI AKADEMIK NA PL. NARUTOWICZA - cz. 1

STUDENTS' HOSTEL "AKADEMIK"
Today I share with you some photos taken at Narutowicza square in Ochota district of Warsaw. They show Students' Hostel "Akademik" designed by polish architect Kazimierz Tołłoczko and built in 1920's. It was the first students' hostel built in poland and still one of the biggest.
During WW2 it hosted Schutzpolizei, maybe that's why it is unoficially called Alcatraz.
It is one of the finest examples of Art Deco architecture in Warsaw. Now it's a bit deteriorated, but offers cheap acommodation in summer for everyone.
